Pioneer Developing Powerful Android Computer, for Your Handlebars

Parrot's Asteroid -- an Android-powered, in-dash computer -- drew rave reviews from CES attendees earlier this month. Pioneer apparently hopes to produce a similarly impressive Android vehicular device, but this "cyclocomputer" is specifically designed for handlebars, not dashboards.

Pioneer's "graphically enhanced" bike computer will feature wireless sensors that monitor cadence, power, torque and the "graphical vectors for each foot." Judging from a photo, the device also tracks the progress of other riders and stores split times, which would make it ideal for teams or training partners. Its battery life and charging capabilities might present a few issues, but -- given the rapid recent advancement of bike technology and DIY mods -- those minor roadblocks shouldn't derail this Pioneer project.
