News Corp (NSDQ: NWS). has good reason to try to make digital subscriptions work. I may not like all of the efforts; I don’t have to as long as enough paying readers do. But all should have one thing in common as of now:

Any stories about the way News Corp. conducts business—especially any stories about the investigations into News International over phone hacking and payments to police—should be accessible to the public without a fee.
