How to Tie a Carrick Bend

A carrick bend (also known as a Sailor's Knot, Sailor's Hitch, Josephine Knot, Sailor's Bend, or Anchor Bend [1]) is a simple, jam-proof knot that is most commonly used to append a shorter piece of rope or cable to a longer one. This knot is particularly effective for rope that is too large or stiff for other knots.
