During the official announcement of Froyo, Google hinted that the
Android Market would soon be available on the Web, allowing us to not only find apps on our PCs, but also send them straight to our phones. And guess what? It's finally here! If you've seen the Chrome Web App Store,
Android Market on the Web should look quite familiar. You'll be able to search for apps and browse based on category, rating and popularity. Clicking the 'Install' or 'Buy' button will prompt you to pick a destination device (if you own more than one Android tablet or phone) before sending the app straight to your handheld. Developers will be happy to hear that in-app purchases will be coming to Android Market, as well. The company is also streamlining the currency conversion in the market, to make odd prices (like ~$1.18) a thing of the past.
The new Web-based Android Market is live now at
market.android.com.
